Law enforcement announced on February 11, 2004, that Lee had now been linked by DNA to the "bloody" 1998 abduction of Randi Mebreur.  On August 10, 2004, Lee was found guilty in the second degree murder of Geralyn DeSoto. It took West Baton Rouge jurors less than two hours to reach a guilty verdict in Lee’s first murder trial.  In East Baton Rouge Parish, Lee was tried for the first degree murder of Charlotte Murray Pace .  In October 2004, he was found guilty of her murder and was given the death penalty.
As evidence from past murders and rape kits continue to be tested in South Louisiana, it is foreseeable that Derrick Todd Lee's notorious rap sheet will continue to lengthen.  Lee has continued to plead "not guilty" to the
murders he was charged with.  Derrick Lee is now on death row at Angola State Penitentiary in Louisiana.

Because of a reading deficiency, he was in the vocational education program. He received a certificate of achievement, rather than a high school diploma.

Looking back upon Derrick Todd Lee's vast criminal history, we can surmise that he is no stranger to law enforcement, nor the prison walls that surround him today. Despite his convictions and multiple arrests, Lee's brutal conduct never wavered.
